ASCE seeks comments for Flood Resistant Design and Construction update

Reston, Va. — The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) will conduct a public comment period on the update to ASCE 24 Flood Resistant Design and Construction. The public comment period will be held Aug. 21, 2014 to Oct. 5, 2014.

This standard provides minimum requirements for flood resistant design and construction of structures that are subject to building code requirements and that are located, in whole or in part, in flood hazard areas. This standard applies to: (a) new construction, including subsequent work to such structures, and (b) work classified as substantial improvement of an existing structure that is not a historic structure.
