Arup welcomes two energy leaders to Americas region

Global engineering and consulting firm Arup has welcomed two new energy leaders to its Americas region: Mauricio Acevedo and Hassan Hamdan.

  • Mauricio Acevedo joins Arup’s Bogotá office as Energy Leader, bringing over 18 years of experience in the energy sector. In his previous roles, Mauricio managed and consulted on multidisciplinary projects in key areas including integrated operations planning, financial analysis, lifecycle design and feasibility, and energy efficiency. Before joining Arup, Mauricio was the COO of Fusion Latam in Colombia, where he led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and power generation projects for clients in both the public and private sectors. In his new role, Mauricio will help expand Arup’s work in the Latin American energy market.
  • Hassan Hamdan joins Arup’s Boston office as the Americas Power Consultancy Leader, bringing over a decade of industry experience. Hassan has led teams providing technical and financial advisory services for global power projects including offshore wind development, transmission and generation planning, technical transaction advisory and owner engineering services. Prior to joining Arup, Hassan was a Principal of Power Consulting at Mott MacDonald where he was responsible for leading and delivering a wide portfolio of projects in the Americas, growing the power advisory business, and contributing to the growth of the offshore wind sector in the Northeast USA. In his new role, Hassan will focus on utility-scale renewables projects, with a focus on transmission systems, offshore wind, onshore renewables, energy storage and the hydrogen markets.
