01. Protective coating app for water/wastewater facilities

Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings expanded access of its Water & Wastewater App to smartphone users, making protective coating recommendations readily available to users anywhere. The app provides protective coating recommendations for more than 35 functional areas across six water and wastewater operations, including conventional water treatment, membrane water/wastewater treatment, water storage, water conveyance, sewer collection, and wastewater treatment. Within the app, users can select the type of functional area in need of coating, such as sewer collection systems, digesters, and clarifiers, and then click labeled areas of the plant to view specific coating recommendations. Recommendations include a primary coating system, the appropriate dry film thickness for each coat, and the total mils for the system.

02. Fabric-covered building

ClearSpan Fabric Structures

ClearSpan Fabric Structures’ Fabric House Building utilizes the frame from the company’s Hybrid Building but covers it completely in fabric. The Fabric House Building features a peaked roof and overhanging eaves that provide extra outdoor coverage. The sidewalls are available in heights of 13 feet or 20 feet. The building is constructed using a triple galvanized steel frame and is covered with 12.5-oz., 24-mil polyethylene. The fabric polyethylene features a rip-stop weave that prevents any tearing or damage, according to the company. The fabric allows natural light to filter through, eliminating the need for artificial daytime lighting.

03. Structural insulated panels

Premier SIPS by Insulfoam

Premier SIPs introduced Premier Platinum structural insulated panels (SIPs) that offer 20 percent higher R-values than traditional SIP panels. The new SIPs are made with Insulfoam Platinum graphite polystyrene (GPS) insulation, a new class of insulation made with BASF’s Neopor, a rigid foam that integrates high-purity graphite into the polymer matrix. The graphite reflects radiant heat energy like a mirror, increasing the material’s resistance to the flow of heat. Testing has shown Platinum cores can increase the panel’s overall R-Value by more than 20 percent, which in some cases can result in the need for a thinner panel while still meeting energy code requirements.

Surge anticipating valves are used whenever there is a possibility of dangerous surges due to power failures or pumping issues. By adding the RPS-L&H and the RPS-R&R valves to MetroH2O, the company can compare these two valves with animation, operating guides, and all the specs that the engineers take into account.
