Washington, D.C. — Informa Exhibitions and USGBC announced famed architect Bjarke Ingels, founding partner of the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), and USGBC COO Mahesh Ramanujam as Greenbuild International Conference and Expo closing plenary speakers. The closing is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7 from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PST at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
“The Greenbuild closing plenary has always focused on ‘what’s next?’ and this year that question holds special resonance to me and the entire green building movement,” said Rick Fedrizzi, CEO and founding chair, USGBC. “Greenbuild 2016’s theme is 'Iconic Green.' When we think of icons, we conjure up images of people, places and things that withstand the test of time, symbolizing our beliefs, culture and community. Bjarke Ingels’ diverse world view lens, combined with our dynamic and growing movement, is sure to create an iconic Greenbuild this year."
A cultural innovator in the field of architecture, Ingels and his partners lead a diverse team of multi-cultural, multi-talented architects, designers, builders and thinkers. He founded BIG in 2005 and has gained a reputation worldwide for his award-winning design projects and buildings that are as programmatically and technically innovative as they are cost- and resource-conscious.
Ingels will share how we need to change our world view to create a world more responsive to our contemporary lives. He will be joined on stage by Ramanujam, who will share his vision for the future of USGBC and market transformation of the sustainability movement that transcends the built environment and extends to communities and cities across the globe.
Registration for Greenbuild is available online at greenbuildexpo.com, and the closing plenary is included in the four-day conference pass, three-day conference pass and Friday day pass.
Greenbuild, owned and operated by Informa and presented by USGBC, is the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. The three-day conference attracts 20,000+ attendees and 500 exhibitors annually from across the green building sector, spanning commercial and residential professionals, architects, building owners and operators, students, advocates and educators. Greenbuild 2016 is scheduled for Oct. 5–7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles.
