ROSEMONT, Ill.  The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) is pleased to announce Ernie Peterson of Ash Grove Cement as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2024.

Peterson is the Vice President of Sales – Midwest for Ash Grove Cement, responsible for sales and transportation functions in eight states from South Dakota to Louisiana.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State University and a Master of Science from the University of South Dakota. Peterson has worked for Ash Grove for 25 years in various capacities. He joined Ash Grove in 1992 as a sales representative in western Iowa. In 1998 he went to work for Fibermesh, then became the Executive Director of the Nebraska Concrete & Aggregates Association. In 2002 he re-joined Ash Grove as a District Sales Manager, moving up to Regional Sales Manager and holding that role for 15 years before becoming vice president in 2012. He was on the board of directors for the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) for two terms and is a past-President of the Nebraska Concrete Paving Association.

“With his experience serving both concrete paving businesses and research organizations, Ernie brings deep expertise to the board and will be a valuable asset to the ACPA in the upcoming year,” said Laura O’Neill Kaumo, President & CEO of ACPA.

“I am proud to play a part in the ACPA’s mission to support the construction of high quality pavements. Our industry has a responsibility to the driving public to deliver safe, efficient highways, bridges and runways that will stand the test of time. As we strive for things like permanence and dependability in our transportation infrastructure, we don’t consider these terms to be just words—they are who we are and what we do,” said Peterson.

ACPA also recently elected a new slate of board members. New members are Ruben Guerrero of Salt River Materials Group, Joe Weishaar of Plote Construction, Inc., Joel Galassini of Cemex, and Greg Mulder of the Iowa Concrete Paving Association.
