AMEC announces Charter Membership of Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure

Alpharetta, Ga. — AMEC announced its Charter Membership of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). The company has also committed to credential 100 professionals to become Envision Sustainability Professionals (ENV SP). These credentialed professionals will be able to document sustainability accomplishments in AMEC’s client projects in conformance with the Envision rating system.

“AMEC is strongly committed to sustainability in every aspect of our business,” said Sarah Hansen, director of sustainability, Americas. “This membership is one of the many things that we do that reinforce our sustainability commitments by living our values.”

In 2012, Envision was launched by ISI as a new comprehensive sustainable infrastructure rating system to assist planners, designers, owners and builders to plan, construct, operate and rate infrastructure to increasing levels of sustainability and resource efficiency. All ENV SPs are ISI-credentialed practitioners who use the Envision rating system as a guide to address triple bottom line sustainability dimensions in the design, construction and operation of an infrastructure project.

“Each ENV SP works as an integral part of a project team with civil engineers, environmental engineers, infrastructure planners, construction managers, architects, transportation professionals, public policy leaders, public works professionals, and other stakeholders to achieve the highest level of sustainability for their infrastructure projects,” said ISI Executive Director Bill Bertera.

AMEC recently won a Silver Class Sustainability Award 2014 from the RobecoSAM Global Sustainability Index. The company is also a signatory to the UN Global Compact, a Natural Capital Efficiency Leader according to GreenBiz and Trucost, and participates in the Global Reporting Initiative. In 2013, AMEC was among the top eight leaders on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, within the reporting sector, and deemed one of the Index’s sustainability leaders.
