Leading inspection firm provided welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection services for new ozone water treatment facility
New York, NY—Atlas Evaluation & Inspection Services (AEIS), a leading testing, inspection, and certification company based in South Plainfield, NJ, has completed inspection and testing for Middlesex Water Company’s new $70 million ozone treatment facility at the utility’s Carl J. Olsen Treatment Plant in Edison, New Jersey. The Plant has a treatment capacity of approximately 60 million gallons per day, providing water for half a million residents across Middlesex and Monmouth counties. Construction is slated for mid-2021 completion.
“We are proud to have partnered with Northeast Remsco Construction to complete inspection and testing to improve safety and quality outcomes for the new ozone treatment facility at Carl J. Olsen Treatment Plant,” stated Nagesh Goel, President and Co-Founder of AEIS. “AEIS specializes in welding and NDT inspections on large infrastructure projects and providing guidance on meeting code.”
As a leading welding and NDT inspection agency in New Jersey and the tri-state area, AEIS provided welding and NDT inspection services for the facility’s new underground stainless-steel piping system. AEIS provided a full-time inspector on-site to ensure a high level of quality from project start to finish. AEIS utilized various NDT techniques to verify the soundness of the stainless-steel pipe joints.
“AEIS brings significant experience preparing welding procedures, inspecting, and testing welds,” Mr. Goel said. “When weld-related failures occur, we perform root-cause analysis of failures and facilitate actionable solutions. Maintaining structural safety and project quality are essential to long-term project success.”
Middlesex Water Company, a provider of water and wastewater and related services in New Jersey and Delaware, was the project owner. Northeast Remsco Construction served as the General Contractor, and Jacobs Engineering Group served as the Consulting Engineer.
“Ensuring project safety and quality is our number-one priority,” stated Paul Yudd, Project Manager at Northeast Remsco Construction. “The Carl J. Olsen Treatment Plant will be the area’s newest, state-of-the-art ozone treatment plant serving the drinking water needs of our local communities. It is essential that any large infrastructure project have an experienced inspection team like AEIS to perform inspections and detect issues before they become problems. This will maximize results for the client, project teams, and local communities, and allow project owners to fully realize their vision while ensuring safety.”
Inspection, testing and certification are essential tools to create greater safety of structures in service and successful project outcomes.
