AECOM Promotes Wendy Lopez to Spearhead Strategy, Growth in Texas

As senior vice president, Texas executive, Lopez is tasked with sparking the firm’s presence in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio

DALLAS – AECOM, the world’s premier infrastructure firm, is getting serious about Texas with the help of one of its most respected leaders. Wendy Lopez, Senior Vice President, has been with AECOM for 16 years and was promoted to Texas Executive, where she will spearhead the strategy, growth and leadership of the company’s business in Texas’ major cities: Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

Prior to this role, Lopez oversaw more than 1,300 employees across 22 states as AECOM’s central region transportation regional business line leader with Dan Manojlovski. Manojlovski will now serve as the single central region transportation regional business line lead.

With a strong Texas economy and population growth, Travis Boone, AECOM’s central region chief executive, said now is the time for AECOM to take advantage of the business development opportunities.

“Wendy will bring the best of what AECOM has to offer to our clients in Texas,” Boone said. “Wendy will grow our operations, increase AECOM’s brand recognition, and generate more business with targeted clients. This includes infrastructure, disruptive transportation technologies and our water business line.”

While she has nearly four decades of experience in transportation consulting in Texas, Lopez has broadened her experience to include large-scale and complex infrastructure projects across the state. She paved the way for AECOM’s involvement in the Texas Hyperloop Project, a never-before-seen 700 mph technology across the state, and is working with Dallas to find solutions to climate change as part of Dallas’ First Climate Action Plan. She’s involved in the environmental clearance process for the Dallas and Houston high-speed rail and supported the development of the Resilient Dallas Strategy in collaboration with 100 Resilient Cities, which helped cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges of the 21st century.

“Over her career, Wendy has earned trusting relationships with private, federal and state clients and business partners across the state,” Boone said. “She will build on those relationships to develop innovative solutions with each client, hopefully creating opportunities our competition won’t be able to respond to.”

Formerly as CEO of Lopez & Garcia, she grew her company from a one-person engineering consulting firm to a multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental services company with 200 employees in less than 20 years. She later sold the company to URS Corp. which was later acquired by AECOM in 2008.

Lopez serves on numerous national and local boards and committees. She’s the Dallas Regional Chamber Infrastructure Task Force Chair, which creates transportation, water and energy policies to benefit the region. Additionally, Lopez was recently appointed to serve as president of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Dallas chapter. IWF celebrates women’s leadership and is an invitation-only, membership organization comprised of more than 7,000 diverse and accomplished women from around the world. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and was recently inducted into the College of Engineering’s Hall of Fame. Lopez also recently won ENR Texas & Louisiana’s sixth annual Legacy Award.
