Begley, Corn named winners of Gannett Fleming’s Innovation Challenge

Harrisburg, Pa. — Gannett Fleming’s Collaborative Research & Innovation Center (CRIC) Working Group selected Jeremy Begley and Aimee Corn as winners of the 2018 Gannett Fleming Innovation Challenge: The Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“We chose Jeremy and Aimee from an outstanding pool of applicants, all of whom submitted solutions that would help our clients thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” said Bob Scaer, PE, Gannett Fleming chairman and CEO. “Their winning idea is based on the years of experience of our structural dam group combined with an innovative use of real-time data analytics and performance-based testing. Our employees, like Aimee and Jeremy, are living out our mission to be lifelong learners on the leading edge of technology.”

Corn and Begley, who are based out of the firm’s Denver office, will receive a cash prize and the support of the CRIC as they implement their validated concrete dam modeling innovation. The CRIC centered this year’s competition around the Fourth Industrial Revolution in recognition that this convergence of the physical, digital, and biological realms will disrupt every industry and transform the role of engineers in society.

The CRIC also named two teams as runners-up:

  • Rafael Prieto and Cari Beenenga, AI to Optimize Water Resources in the Colorado River Basin
  • Ruidong Chen of GeoDecisions, AI Powered Traffic Management System.

The Innovation Challenge, started in 2017, is part of Gannett Fleming’s drive to provide the most valuable solutions to its clients while also encouraging professional development for its employees. The firm also recognizes employees through the President’s Innovation Award, the President’s Quality Award, and President’s Project Team Award.
