Terracon establishes mentor-protg relationship with Consultech

North Charleston, S.C. — Terracon and Consultech, a recognized small disadvantaged business (SBD) and woman-owned enterprise (WBE) providing environmental consulting and construction, announced the establishment of their mentor-protégé relationship.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) Mentor-Protégé Program was developed to encourage long-term, mutually beneficial business partnerships between large and small companies. Mentor companies voluntarily support protégé businesses interested in pursuing federal government contracts, enhancing small businesses’ ability to perform large federal contracts. Establishment of the relationship provides increased contracting opportunities specifically set-aside for program participants.

“The mentor-protégé program is an invaluable tool for the strategic growth of our company,” said Pragna Shah, Consultech managing officer. “With access to the expertise and resources of Terracon, we will gain new operational experience and overcome barriers to entry we might otherwise encounter.”

The agreement brings together the resources of two complementary organizations with extensive environmental experience. Terracon’s capabilities include a wide range of risk management activities including asbestos, industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, and site investigation consultation. Paired with Consultech’s experience in general contracting, waste management, remediation, industrial, environmental, and storage tank management services, the relationship creates a full-service environmental team.

Charlie Vernoy, Terracon program manager, said the Mentor Protégé Program is a learning opportunity for mentor companies as well, “We have been fortunate to grow our business and appreciate being able to share our experience, but we also expect to learn from Consultech’s construction expertise.”

The firms also intend to pursue the formation of a joint-venture relationship, providing further growth and experience opportunities for each organization.
