DOWL HKM simplifies its name to DOWL

DOWL HKM is shortening its name to DOWL. In 2008, DOWL Engineers merged with HKM Engineering. DOWL’s President, Stewart G. Osgood, P.E., said the two similarly-sized firms each had more than 50 years of history and reputation in their respective communities, and at the time, losing either of the names would have meant an identity crisis in their marketplaces. To keep both names, the firm adopted DOWL HKM as its moniker.

“While some found the combined name awkward, we didn’t want to lose name recognition in the markets we served,” said Osgood. “Today, clients recognize us as one company. Shortening the name is a natural progression.”

Osgood is quick to point out that the only change is the name, “Same great people with a truncated name, is all,” said Osgood. “And, we certainly aren’t forgetting the legacy left by HKM Engineering’s founding fathers, Hurlbut, Kersich, and McCullough. We will honor them by living our charter of inspiration, integrity, and innovation.”

DOWL now has 24 offices with 425 employees throughout Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, North Dakota, Washington, and Wyoming.
