ASCE announces winners of Bridges Inspire! international photography contest and Launches Viewers Choice Contest

RESTON, Va. – The American Society of Civil Engineers announced the winners of its “Bridges Inspire!” bridge photography contest. ASCE received more than 900 submissions from civil engineers, students and photographers in nearly 50 countries.

Expert judges, including three civil engineering and three photographers, selected 14 winners in seven categories.  Winners will receive a cash prize, and their photo will appear in the ASCE 2015 Bridges wall calendar.

Next, ASCE will open up a final category for judging to the entire world of bridge enthusiasts.  Aptly named Viewer’s Choice, this category will accept votes from the public from June 17 to August 31 at  ascebridgephotos.org.

“We are thrilled with both the quality of our winning entries, and the opportunity to give our fellow bridge enthusiasts a chance to choose winners in the Viewer’s Choice category,” said Bruce Gossett, Managing Director of ASCE Publications. “Bridges are a captivating combination of art and engineering, and there is a community of people across the world who marvel at them. Last year, more than 6,000 people voted to select our Viewers’ Choice winners, and we hope for an even bigger response this year.”
