Stanley Consultants to design North Dakota intersections

Bismarck, N.D. —The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) selected Stanley Consultants to provide engineering services for realignment of two intersections on U.S Highway 83 north of Maxmass in Bottineau County. The existing geometry at the intersections at 93rd Street NW and 20th Avenue NW, and 20th Avenue NW and 97th Street NW create safety concerns due to limited visibility. Stanley Consultants has been selected to redesign the roadways and intersections to widen the road shoulders and improve safety. Design of the project is expected to be completed by December 2014 with construction taking place during the 2015 construction season.

Stanley Consultants recently completed Phase 1 of the project, a NEPA study of the potential social, economic, and environmental impacts of the project, which was required before the project can proceed to the design stage.

“We’re very pleased in the confidence that the NDDOT has shown in Stanley Consultants by selecting us to provide design services for this project,” said Bismarck Office Operations Manager Vance Hanson. “Though our Bismarck office is relatively new, Stanley Consultants has been providing engineering services to clients in North Dakota since the ‘60s, ranging from major flood protection improvement projects and municipal wastewater treatment projects to Department of Defense airbase projects, energy projects, and comprehensive plans for multiple counties. We’re excited to add transportation services to that list.”

Founded in 1913, Stanley Consultants is a global consulting engineering firm. With a focus on transportation, energy and water resources, the Bismarck Office provides planning, engineering, structural and civil design, environmental/NEPA services, and construction management services for state, local and private clients. The office is managed by Hanson, a North Dakota licensed professional engineer with nearly 30 years of transportation engineering experience. He is joined by Construction Services Manager Bill Sloan, a licensed professional engineer with over 25 years of experience, and a staff of designers, construction managers and surveyors.
