ICC-ES, manufacturers work together to ensure evaluation report compliance with 2012 I-Codes

WHITTIER, Calif. – The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has updated its acceptance criteria to reflect revisions to the 2012 International Building Code® (IBC) and 2012 International Residential Code® (IRC). Many manufacturers have updated, or are in the process of updating, their ICC-ES evaluation reports (ESRs) with the most current technical data, showing compliance with the 2012 I-Codes. ESRs updated to the most current codes demonstrate to code officials, designers, architects, engineers and others in the construction industry that they can confidently approve or specify products based on the most current information.

The 2012 I-Codes have gained substantial national support. For example, the Coalition for Current Safety Codes (CCSC) advances public safety in the built environment by advocating states and municipal jurisdictions adopt current building codes. More than 460 code officials, fire officers, architects, plan reviewers, organizations and businesses have shown their support for the CCSC.

“Building officials look for the ICC-ES mark on building products because they trust our evaluations and recognize the credibility of our reports,” said ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian. “Manufacturers can rely on a quick turnaround time when requesting these updates, which enhances acceptance in the many jurisdictions that have adopted the 2012 I-Codes.”

In addition to changes to the IBC and IRC, the 2012 International Plumbing Code® (IPC) states that all plumbing products and materials be listed by a third-party certification agency. The ICC-ES PMG Listing Program at no additional cost offers a full range of certification for the U.S. and Canada. ICC-ES PMG certifies products to AB1953, Annex G of NSF/ANSI 372, S.3874 (Federal Law for Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water) and the requirements of WaterSense.
