DALLAS — For the second year in a row, Jaster-Quintanilla (JQ) Dallas has won top honors as a member of the project team for the Richland Science Building at Richland Community College, recognized as the “Best Green Project in 2009” in the North Texas region by the Dallas Business Journal.

JQ Dallas provided structural and civil engineering and land surveying services. In 2008, JQ Dallas was recognized for the firm’s work on the Trinity River Audubon Center, also named the “Best Green Project in 2008” in the North Texas region.

“Being on different project teams that have won best green project in the North Texas region over the past two years is an honor and reflects our commitment to sustainability,” said JQ Dallas principal Stephen H. Lucy, P.E. “We have dedicated a lot of resources to ensure that our entire team understands that sustainable structures are the future of the built environment.” JQ’s professional team also includes 29 LEED APs.

In addition to this honor, three of the six winners of the Outstanding Sports Facility Awards, recognized by the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) were JQ engineering projects, including Stephen F. Austin State University Student Recreation Center, The University of Texas-Pan American Recreation & Wellness Center and The University of Texas at San Antonio Recreation & Wellness Center. Smith Group/F&S Partners were the architects on all three winning projects.

For the third consecutive year, JQ was named to The Zweig Letter Hot Firm List of the 200 fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S. “We are flattered to receive this award, but the greatest tribute is to our employees whose work has been recognized for its excellence,” said JQ Austin principal and co-founder Gary W. Jaster, P.E. “We also believe that maintaining and enhancing strong client relationships is the key to successful growth.”
