Hilti design team honored

SCHAAN, LIECHTENSTEIN — Hilti has been honored with a significant award in the design industry. Hilti’s chief designer Stephan Niehaus, and the Hilti design team, will receive the Red Dot Design Team of the Year Award, presented at a ceremony to be held July 5 in Essen, Germany.

The “Red Dot” is one of the most prestigious and largest international design competitions. In addition to the annual awarding of the Red Dot Design Award for products with outstanding design quality, the organizers have also handed out an award honoring the design team of the year since 1988.

This is the highest award given within the design community and it is reserved for design teams whose consistency and innovative design work is very convincing. This is an honorary title that is not awarded in open competition and is only given to a particular design team once in a lifetime.

It is both a surprise and an honor for Hilti to join the ranks of top-flight brands in product design, said Hilti CEO Bo Risberg. “What our inter-departmental teams have done in the last few years in the definition and consistent application of the Hilti design line is extremely valuable, both in terms of formative design and economic considerations,” said Risberg. “We are very pleased to note that our uniform, clear and expressive design language has been acknowledged by an external jury of experts.”

According to the jury, Hilti has created excellent products in recent years that have managed to establish a high level of design quality and design continuity. These products also produce a perfect balance between competitor differentiation and reinforcing the company’s own identity.

“The basis for its excellence is that the Hilti design promises exactly what the tool delivers,” said Prof. Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the Red Dot Design Award and senator in the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, the organization that will present the “Radius” perennial trophy to the Hilti design team at the awards ceremony on July 5.
