NCEES launches video series about the new computer-based FE and FS exams

CLEMSON, S.C. — The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) announced CBTuesdays, a seven-week video series that introduces examinees to the exam-day experience for the new computer-based Fundamentals of Engineering and Fundamentals of Surveying exams. The FE and FS exams are the first step toward becoming licensed as a professional engineer or surveyor in the United States. Beginning in January 2014, the exams will be administered only by computer at approved Pearson VUE test centers.

“Now that registration for the computer-based FE and FS exams is open, we wanted to help examinees get a picture of what it will be like on exam day. This video series is designed to do that,” said Nina Norris, NCEES director of public affairs.

Every Tuesday beginning Nov. 19, NCEES will feature a new video about different aspects of taking the exams at a Pearson VUE test center. The first video gives an overview of a typical exam-day experience, including how the check-in process works, what examinees can bring into the exam room, and how they can request breaks.

Future videos will focus on specific parts of taking the exams, such as how to flag questions for review during the exam, what the reusable booklet for scratch work is like, and how to search the electronic reference handbook.

The videos will be featured on the NCEES Facebook and Twitter pages and on the NCEES YouTube channel under a CBTuesdays section for easy viewing access.
