ASTM committee developing proposed standard for precast concrete retaining wall units

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, PA. — While machine-placed wet-cast precast concrete retaining wall units have been commercially available since the late 1990s, there has not been an ASTM standard available to cover these products. Now, ASTM International Committee C27 on Precast Concrete Products is working on such a standard. ASTM WK38192, Specification for Wet-Cast Precast Modular Block Retaining Wall Units, is being developed by Subcommittee C27.20 on Architectural and Structural Products.

Oldcastle Precast & Oldcastle Architectural announce U.S. launch of new LID stormwater management system

LITTLETON, Colo. – Oldcastle Precast and Oldcastle Architectural announce the U.S. launch of their new low impact development (LID) stormwater management system, PermeCapture™, an all-inclusive stormwater run-off control system that manages water volume in addition to protecting water quality by providing integrated pretreatment. PermeCapture combines the advantages and versatility of structural precast concrete modules (vaults) with the aesthetics and performance of permeable interlocking concrete pavers to provide a stand- alone, low maintenance, LID green solution for stormwater retention, detention, reuse, ground water recharge and flood management.

Oldcastle Precast constructs first-of-its-kind all precast air station hangar

BARTOW, Fla. – Oldcastle Precast announced today that it has completed work on the "first-of-its-kind" U.S Coast Guard air station hangar project which included a 20,000 square foot CAT 5 Aircraft Hangar, HAZMAT Storage Building, and Residential Building Structure for the U.S. Security Forces. The new CAT 5 aircraft hangar was constructed from the ground up using Oldcastle Precast’s new "Titan Wall" system. The entire aircraft hangar structure including the patent pending, motorized hangar doors, was fabricated using engineered precast concrete. The new facility allows the USCG to base helicopters and aircraft flying in support of OPBAT on Great Inagua, Bahamas replacing a previous steel hangar destroyed by Hurricane Ike in September of 2008.
