Editorial Submissions

Civil+Structural Engineer Media publishes content daily in the form of news items and bylined articles about projects, people, ideas, and everything else relevant to the wide-ranging AEC industry.  We also publish content on a quarterly basis via our award-winning Civil+Structural Engineer Magazine.  We are currently seeking submissions and contributors to fill our editorial schedule for 2024.  Those interested in submitting an article for consideration as either an online article or for an issue of the magazine should reach out to Editor Luke Carothers (lcarothers@zweiggroup.com) with: an outline, abstract, description, or rough draft of the prospective article.

What should you submit?

We publish content relevant to professionals working in the AEC industry.  A good portion of our audience are civil and structural engineers, but the entirety is composed of professionals from all corners of architecture, engineering, and construction.  Our readers’ interests vary well beyond just the fields of civil and structural engineering into all the intricate connections it has within the larger AEC industry.  Potential contributors are welcome to submit topics from all aspects of the AEC industry, and are encouraged to think creatively about their content’s engagement with our readership.  Contributors are also encouraged to review our 2024 Media Kit and Editorial Calendar, which provides more information about the topics that will be covered by Civil+Structural Engineer Media in 2024 as well as the wide range of other available opportunities to promote your content.

What are the requirements for submitting an article?

Those interested in publishing an article in Civil+Structural Engineer Media should send an email to Editor Luke Carothers (lcarothers@zweiggroup.com).  This email should give our editorial staff more information about the proposed article by including: an outline, abstract, description, or rough draft.  Rough drafts should be between 500 and 1,500 words and should be attached to the email in a word document.  The email should also contain a proposed author as well as their title, firm, and a brief bio.

Our content is also highly visual, and contributors are encouraged to submit any photos, renderings, or video along with their submissions.  Digital images at least 1000px by 1000px at 72ppi in JPG, EPS, TIFF format are the preferred format — the larger the better. Please email smaller images (less than 8 MB) or post larger images on a file delivery platform such as Dropbox or Google Drive and share with mediasubmissions@zweiggroup.com.

Where and when will your content be published?

Once you’ve reached out via email, our editorial team will work together to schedule the article according to our editorial calendar and reach back out to inform you of a prospective date of publication.  The bulk of articles will be published on our website, which attracts over 50,000+ visitors every month.  These articles will then be curated and recirculated through our weekly and monthly newsletters that reach over 28,000 AEC professionals.  Our quarterly magazine will also feature longer articles, focused around a central theme or topic.  You can see these topics on our 2024 Editorial calendar.  All submissions will be considered for publication in Civil+Structural Engineer Magazine, but if you are interested in submitting an article for a particular issue, please indicate the issue in your query email.

When necessary, contributors must disclose professional interest or affiliations that may influence the position taken or methods advocated in their submission.

Submissions that do not meet the above-listed criteria are not eligible for or subject to publication.  If you have questions about the submission process, please contact the editor.

All published contributions become the property of Zweig Group, and may be reproduced again at any future time in print, electronic, or other format at the discretion of the publisher.
