Webinar highlights concrete protective liners

Georgetown, S.C. — Concrete is the most popular building material in the world, but even this ubiquitous material is susceptible to damage. Engineers have presented ingenious designs over the years to protect critical concrete structures with the purpose of minimizing exposure.

Sometimes, however, projects can have much higher protection requirements. Concrete protective liners made of high-quality resins like polyethylene leverage the resin’s material qualities to provide a near-impenetrable barrier against water and corrosive compounds. Sure-Grip has a 25-year track record of success across hundreds of applications from man-made islands to nuclear power plants.

A webinar on Thursday, August 24, 2017, will introduce viewers to AGRU’s Sure-Grip and explore applications that can benefit from a highly elastic concrete protective liner that provides corrosion and water resistance.

During the webinar, viewers will:

  • Learn about five types of damage that can compromise the integrity of unprotected concrete structures.
  • Understand the differences between regular linings and Sure-Grip concrete protective liners.
  • Find out about the methods AGRU uses to test and benchmark its liners.
  • Discover how Sure-Grip’s installation costs, service lifetime, and maintenance costs compares with competing products.
  • Learn about Sure-Grip technical specifications and standard applications.
  • Have their questions answered during a Q&A.

The webinar — 9:00 a.m. PDT / 11:00 a.m. CDT / 12:00 p.m. EST — will last for approximately 60 minutes with 20 minutes of Q&A.

The featured speaker is Ernie Heins, P.E., who has more than 28 years of experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of containment and engineered systems utilizing geosynthetics and other thermoplastic materials. Heins has served as private-sector director for manufacturing on SWANA’s International Board and was the former president of SWANA’s South Carolina Palmetto Chapter. Heins formerly served as a steering committee member for the National Waste & Recycling Association and is currently active in the National Precast Concrete Association as well as the American Concrete Pipe Association.

During the last nine years, Heins has served a variety of roles at AGRU America Inc., including his current capacity as business unit manager for specialty products. In this capacity, he is responsible for the sales, marketing, and technical aspects of concrete protective liners, tunnel lining systems, fluoropolymer systems, and semi-finished products.
