Webinar highlights concrete protective liners

Georgetown, S.C. — Concrete is the most popular building material in the world, but even this ubiquitous material is susceptible to damage. Engineers have presented ingenious designs over the years to protect critical concrete structures with the purpose of minimizing exposure.

Sometimes, however, projects can have much higher protection requirements. The featured speaker is Ernie Heins, P.E., who has more than 28 years of experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of containment and engineered systems utilizing geosynthetics and other thermoplastic materials. Heins has served as private-sector director for manufacturing on SWANA’s International Board and was the former president of SWANA’s South Carolina Palmetto Chapter. Heins formerly served as a steering committee member for the National Waste & Recycling Association and is currently active in the National Precast Concrete Association as well as the American Concrete Pipe Association.

During the last nine years, Heins has served a variety of roles at AGRU America Inc., including his current capacity as business unit manager for specialty products. In this capacity, he is responsible for the sales, marketing, and technical aspects of concrete protective liners, tunnel lining systems, fluoropolymer systems, and semi-finished products.
