Water for People gains support for outreach

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Earth Tech, Inc., donated $35,000 to Water For People, an organization that helps people in developing countries by supporting development of drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education programs. Earth Tech announced the donation at the annual conference of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) held in Toronto in July.

"Given Earth Tech’s role as a premier provider of engineering, construction, and operations services to the global water/wastewater market, we are honored to support Water For People, which is AWWA’s charity of choice," said Bill Webb, executive vice president, of Earth Tech’s Global Consulting & Engineering Division. "Throughout the world, Water For People is a catalyst for change in communities where there is a need for safe drinking water resources and adequate sanitation."

Water For People’s board of directors announced plans in June to expand its international development program to five additional countries: Ecuador, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Uganda, and the Dominican Republic. According to the board, these new program locations will strategically complement existing work in Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras, India, and Malawi and will double the number of countries served by Water For People. In June 2006, the organization adopted a five-year strategic plan that calls for aggressive expansion of its sustainable program model to more people in countries who need safe drinking water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene education.
