KANSAS CITY, MO. — HNTB received three National Design-Build Awards from the Design-Build Institute of America for its work on the London Road Water Treatment Facility in Boggstown, Ind., the Fort Lee, Va., Central Campus, and the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge in Omaha, Neb.

The awards were announced at the 2010 Design-Build Conference and Expo Oct. 19 in Las Vegas.

“We have been honored to work with all of our partners and clients on these projects and are grateful for this special recognition from the design-build industry,” said Bob Stromsted, CEO of HNTB Corp.

  • Water/Wastewater Under $25 Million National Design-Build Award — Owned by Indiana-American Water, the London Road Water Treatment Facility in Boggstown, Ind., received LEED Silver certification for its sustainability efforts. Partnered with Bowen Engineering Corp. as the design-builder, HNTB Corp. served as the architect and engineer for this project.
  • Public Sector Over $50 Million Design-Build Merit Award — HNTB Federal worked with Balfour Beatty Construction on the first phase of the Central Campus for the U.S. Army Ordnance School at Fort Lee, Va. HNTB served as the architect on the five-building, 26-month project, which provides facilities for maintenance training on vehicles, and houses the largest welding training lab in the United States.
  • Public Sector Under $25 Million Design-Build Merit Award — Working with APAC-Kansas Inc., HNTB Corp. served as the design lead on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
