Thornton Tomasetti announces Dallas office vice president

DALLAS — Thornton Tomasetti Inc. has announced that R. John Aniol, P.E., S.E. has joined the firm as vice president in its Dallas office.

Aniol brings more than 23 years of award-winning experience in structural engineering and project management for buildings totaling more that 23.8 million square feet. Previously, he was a principal and operations manager in the Dallas office of engineering firm Walter P. Moore, where he served as co-structural project manager on the $850 million Dallas Cowboys Stadium, the George Bush Presidential Center, and $698-million Terminal D at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Working closely with Patricia Coleman, P.E., principal of the Thornton Tomasetti Dallas office, Aniol will take a leadership role in expanding the firm’s Texas operations and developing opportunities to serve clients across the Southwest, while also directing structural engineering project teams.

His diverse portfolio of experience ranges from a broad spectrum of project types including sports facilities, long-span retractable roof structures, airport terminals, hospitals, courthouses, performing art centers, R & D facilities, corporate headquarter campuses, mid-rise office buildings, medical office buildings, hotels, libraries, institutional and federal buildings, mixed-use projects, and parking structures nationwide.

Aniol has a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed professional engineer in 11 states and is a member of the CASE Toolkit Committee. In addition, he has authored numerous technical articles and served as a judge for the 2008 NCSEA Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards program.
