Tensar to assume CONTECH—s distribution business for U.S. geogrid products

ALPHARETTA, GA. — After 25 years of successful collaboration, Tensar International Corp. and CONTECH Construction Products Inc. have mutually agreed that Tensar will take on distribution responsibility for geogrid products in the United States.

Under the terms of the agreement and effective May 2, 2011, Tensar International will assume CONTECH’s geogrid distribution business, which includes exclusive distribution of both biaxial and triaxial geogrid products in the United States. The joint decision to modify the long-term distribution alliance comes as a result of strategic initiatives both companies are pursuing in their respective markets.

Tensar International has expanded its portfolio of soil and pavement solutions during the last few years. With these new products Tensar International, a global leader in soil stabilization products and solutions, has undertaken to consolidate and streamline its distribution channels to more directly serve its markets. “Tensar International now delivers complete solutions including materials, engineering, technical assistance, and specifications,” said Robert Vevoda, president. “We have developed extensive field sales and support capabilities so that we can work more closely with the customers and specifiers who use our solutions. We will continue to build our field organization to maintain our current high level of support for our customers throughout the United States.”

“Over the past few years, CONTECH has gained significant traction in our core business and is recognized today as one of the premier providers of engineering solutions to the commercial, residential, industrial, heavy highway, and emerging markets,” stated Steve Spanagel, CONTECH’s president – sales and field marketing. We have recently made investments to build out our product portfolio to go after new and emerging growth markets such as military, mining, wind, and energy, and have established several new alliances that will position us for long-term success, both domestically and abroad. While we have enjoyed a successful relationship with Tensar for decades, our company and customers would be best served by allocating resources focused on these new market opportunities. We will be working very closely with Tensar to ensure this transition is seamless to the customer and have no doubt they will continue to receive excellent products and services moving forward.”
