A new battery energy storage system is now online at the Atlantic County Utilities Authority’s wastewater treatment plant in Atlantic City, N.J. The system captures up to one megawatt hour of energy produced by the site’s 7.5-megawatt wind farm and 500 kilowatts from solar panels, storing it to be used when needed.

RETTEW recently completed the asset purchase of Enviroscan, a Lancaster-based geophysics company. The transaction, finalized Feb. 5, joins the specialized geophysics services of Enviroscan with RETTEW’s engineering, surveying, and environmental consulting business.
RETTEW opened its sixth office in Pennsylvania. Located in State College, Centre County, the office will serve as a regional hub for staff working in RETTEW’s Energy and Environmental Engineering group.

RETTEW is part of an initial agreement targeted to build a 160,000-gallon-per-day high-strength wastewater pretreatment facility, in partnership with the City of Lebanon, Ind., PACE Energy, and Ken’s Foods Inc. The wastewater treatment processes will produce renewable energy in the form of natural gas.
