Stantec secures $5.8 million in brownfield federal funding for organizations

Seattle and Milwaukee — Stantec worked with 16 cities, counties, and regional organizations across the U.S. to secure $5.8 million in brownfield federal funding through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants. The total amount secured by Stantec was more than 10 percent of the total funding awarded.

The funds will be used to assess, clean up, and redevelop underutilized properties while protecting public health and the environment. Additionally, the funds can expand the ability of communities to recycle vacant and abandoned properties for new, productive reuses or leverage considerable infrastructure and other financial resources.

“I am incredibly proud of the team who successfully secured funding for our clients from coast to coast,” said Dave Rautmann, practice leader for Stantec’s environmental services group in Wisconsin. “Our team is dedicated to helping our clients achieve their goals. Securing brownfield funding is the first step toward improving the communities that we care so much about.”

The type of work completed with brownfield federal funding varies. Many times, the funding is used for environmental work, and it leads to a breadth of projects from site development to landscape architecture to full-scale redevelopments.

Overall, Stantec has helped cities, counties, and organizations across the U.S. secure more than 120 brownfield grants, totaling more than $40 million.
