ASI Architectural introduced StrandTec Wood Fiber Ceiling and Wall Panels, which reduce echo and reverberation while enhancing a room’s overall aesthetics. These sustainable, high-performance, cost-effective acoustical solutions can be retrofitted into an existing facility or incorporated as part of a new build, the company said. StrandTec panels are made up of cementitious wood fiber, manufactured using only wood strands, portland cement, and water. Standard panel finishes are natural and white and are paintable with vivid SonoKote colors to fit with any décor. StrandTec panels are available in 1-inch, 1.375-inch, and 2-inch thicknesses, in various dimensions and edge options.

Cable railing system

Superior Aluminum Products introduced series 2000 cable railing system, which it said provides modern styling and a virtually unobstructed view. Stainless steel cables combined with aluminum posts and rail assemblies form a strong, durable, maintenance-free system that meets OSHAA, ADA, and ICC safety criteria. Superior cable railing is available in any height, with standard heights of 42 inches for commercial and 36 inches for residential projects. The 3/16-inch 1×19 type 316 stainless steel cable is made from 19 strands for high tensile strength with no stretching. The 2-1/2-inch square aluminum posts can be surface mounted, side mounted, or embedded into concrete.

Hurricane tie

Simpson Strong-Tie introduced the H1.81Z hurricane tie, designed to provide stronger connections between heavy engineered wood rafters and wall top plates. Developed and tested to provide lateral resistance during seismic events, the H1.81Z is also ideal for roofs with heavy snow loads or connections where there are higher load demands on the structure. The code-listed 1-3/4-inch-wide H1.81Z connector also installs with half the number of nails that would be needed for two single-sided twist straps, and it features a ZMAX zinc finish to increase resistance to corrosion. Installation on either the outside or the inside of the wall is acceptable according to all LVL manufacturers’ installation instructions.
