Smart infrastructure is theme of Smart Cities Week, Oct. 3-5

Washington, D.C. — Smart infrastructure is the theme for Smart Cities Week 2017, which returns to the nation’s capital for the third straight year, Oct. 3-5. North America’s premier smart cities conference and exhibition will bring together visionary leaders and thinkers from all levels of government to see, hear and be inspired by real-world examples of smart infrastructure solving tough urban challenges.

“The history of our country is a history of investing in infrastructure for the benefit of citizens – the transcontinental railroad, the power grid, the telephone system, the interstate highway system, the Internet,” said Jesse Berst, Chairman of the Smart Cities Council, which hosts the event. “Now we must invest in smart infrastructure to make our cities more livable, workable and sustainable. We can only make the right investments through conversation, collaboration and coordination.”

Attendees will hear about this topic from public, private and nonprofit leaders from around the world, such as Tom Steyer, Founder and President, NextGen Climate; Mike Zeto, Executive Director, Smart Cities, AT&T; and David Nemtzow, Director, Building Technology Office, U.S. Department of Energy.
