SCS Engineers renews contract with Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. — SCS Engineers (SCS) has been under contract with Merced County since 1998, providing a wide range of landfill gas (LFG), landfill engineering, and air quality services. SCS was recently contracted by the newly-formed Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority (MCRWMA) to continue providing these services to the new agency.

MCRWMA recently issued a contract to SCS, as well as a recent contract amendment, to provide comprehensive air quality compliance, greenhouse gas (GHG) compliance, air quality permitting, and LFG collection and control system (GCCS) operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OM&M) services for a three-year period at the Highway 59 Landfill.

Merced County submitted an Evaluation Monitoring Program (EMP) for the Highway 59 Landfill, which was approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) in June 2011. SCS completed the engineering design and Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) for construction of the GCCS and final cap for the Phases 1 through 4 disposal areas at the landfill.

Later a contract amendment was issued to provide additional design, construction oversight, closure bid support, and quality assurance/quality control. SCS is also under contract to complete the engineering design and CQA for Phase 5 of the landfill.

Pat Sullivan is the project director for these projects with several senior SCS staff serving as task managers for the various project activities.
