Rutgers offers course on advanced stormwater management

New Brunswick, N.J. — Rutgers University Office of Continuing Professional Education is offering Understanding Advanced Stormwater Management Techniques on October 23, 2017. Green infrastructure stormwater management is widely promoted by state and federal agencies as the proper way to control, treat and reduce stormwater runoff and its associated problems. However, there are challenges to correctly designing, constructing and maintaining these “advanced stormwater management systems.” These challenges often lead to failures or conditions that compromise the functionality of such BMPs, fostering a reluctance to adopt green infrastructure stormwater management techniques for either new development or redevelopment projects.

This course focuses on the proper design, construction and maintenance of various green infrastructure stormwater BMPs, offering a number of actual constructed systems to support their feasibility and applicability in different development settings.
