Professionals on the move

Civil engineering and surveying firms announced the following appointments, awards, and promotions:

Parsons Brinckerhoff named Greg Kelly to the newly created position of global chief operating officer (COO). Clifford Ebysucceeds Kelly as president of Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Americas Transportation operating company.

Margaret O’Meara, a vice president in the Boston office of Parsons Brinckerhoff, was named Woman of the Year by WTS International, the association for the advancement of women in the transportation industry.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc (SHPE) Chief Executive Officer, Pilar Montoya, was recognized by US STEMconnector, "100 Women Leaders in STEM," for her efforts to increase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) awareness, access, support and leadership development among the Hispanic community.

Sharon Bison, business development manager at SCS Engineers, received the Society of American Military Engineers Regional Vice President’s Medal for “Outstanding Service to the Society 2007-2012.”

Dr. Jamal Shamas moved into a new role as CH2M HILL’s Industry Sector Lead – Water for Oil and Gas, using his expertise in the oil and gas industry to lead global strategic planning and business development efforts for the Oil and Gas Sector within the CH2M HILL Water Business Group’s Industrial, Energy and Mining Platform.

Carlos Ortiz, P.E., T.E., PTOE, vice president of Transportation, RBF Consulting, was elected by the membership of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Western District, to the position of secretary-treasurer.

Christopher D. Krebs, P.E., CFM, GISP, and Scott W. Zeevaart, P.E., were named vice presidents of Gannett Fleming, Inc. Both are based in Gannett Fleming’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa. Krebs is the manager of geographic information system (GIS) services for the Environmental Resources Division; Zeevaart is the Highway Business Unit leader for the Transportation Division.

Bryan P. Mulqueen, P.E., was named the national manager of Gannett Fleming’s Transit & Rail Practice. He is based in the firm’s Raleigh, N.C., office.

Brock LaForty was named area manager of the Charlotte, N.C., office of Parsons Brinckerhoff. He previously served as a senior associate at STV Inc. where he led the national transportation planning practice.

Greg Anderson, P.E., joined McKim & Creed as manager of renewal and replacement (R&R) services. He will lead the firm’s expansion of services in infrastructure R&R in the Southeastern United States. Prior to joining McKim & Creed, he was the owner and president of Anderson Consulting Services/ACS.

Paul Lewis, P.E., vice president and corporate geotechnical practice leader, based in the Gannett Fleming’s corporate headquarters in Harrisburg, Pa., was selected to the West Virginia University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s (CEE) West Virginia Academy of Civil Engineers.

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., a unit of Michael Baker Corporation, appointed Christopher G. Gesing, P.E., to national director of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Services for Rail and Transit (R&T).

Erdman Anthony recently named Curt W. Helman, P.E., CEO in addition to his responsibilities as president. Helman assumes the post most recently held by Russell Bullock, who will remain with the firm as chairman of the board.

Kurt Newbrough joined Greenhorne & O’Mara’s Fairmont, W.V., office as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor.

Taylor Baumgartner, P.E., was promoted to project manager in LJA Engineering’s Houston Land Development Division.
