No-wall fabric building

ClearSpan Fabric Structures’ Pavilion Building features no end walls or sidewalls, creating a covered, outdoor atmosphere that can be used for any construction need. The Pavilion Building is covered by ClearSpan’s 12.5- ounce, 24-mil rip-stop polyethylene fabric that allows natural light to filter through. The UV-resistant fabric covers come in four color options. The truss frame is triple galvanized for corrosion resistance. When paired with the ClearSpan Helical Anchoring System, the Pavilion Building can be built with minimal foundation requirements, the company said. Pavilion Buildings can be constructed 75 feet or 85 feet wide, and feature 13-foot-high eaves.

Dell announced upgrades to its Dell Precision Tower Workstations with increased performance, graphics, and memory for virtual reality (VR) content creation. The Dell Precision Tower 5810, 7810, and 7910 Workstations and Rack 7910 have been upgraded with new Intel Broadwell EP Processors that have more cores and performance for multithreaded applications that are ideal for professional modeling, analysis, and calculations. Mobile app for PVC pipe standards

The Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association released a mobile app that provides the most current PVC pipe products available meeting both AWWA and ASTM standards. The app is a useful reference tool to ensure that the most appropriate PVC pipes are specified for pipe projects. Included are PVC pipes in sizes from 4 to 60 inches for water mains, gravity sewers, sewer force mains, reclaimed water lines, storm sewers, and trenchless applications. The app provides available size ranges, joining systems, and applicable standards for each application; outside-diameter regimens for pressure pipes; and cross-section information and pipe stiffness values for sewer pipe.

Structural modeling, design, and analysis

Trimble introduced three software versions of its Building Information Modeling (BIM) and analysis and design solutions — Tekla Structures 2016, Tekla Structural Designer 2016, and Tekla Tedds 2016. According to Trimble, Tekla Structures provides more efficient modeling of any steel or concrete structure and introduces more efficient utilization of model information. Tekla Structural Designer is an engineering tool for analyzing and designing buildings and has expanded seismic design capabilities. Tekla Tedds automates repetitive structural calculations and has new options for analysis and design of retaining walls, foundations, and steel and concrete beams.

Hydro International said its First Defense High Capacity hydrodynamic separator for stormwater treatment has been certified for 80 percent Total Suspended Solids removal by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection — at the highest treatment loading rate in the industry. First Defense High Capacity works with large pipes, multiple inlet pipes, inlet grates, and now contains a high-capacity internal bypass for conveying large peak flows.
