PPI retracts cautionary advisory

In a one-sentence statement, the Plastics Pipe Institute (PPI) retracted the content of its June 11 news release in which the group issued a cautionary advisory regarding the integrity of fusible polyvinyl chloride (fusible PVC) pipe (see original story here). PPI had said that fusible PVC pipe is susceptible to rapid crack propagation and that this characteristic has led to a number of water pipeline failures. A manufacturer of fusible PVC pipe and the Uni-Bell PVC Pipe Association disputed the claim. PPI did not explain its retraction.
