Post-Tensioning Institute announces technical conference and expo

The Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) announced its Sixth Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, to be held May 6-8, 2007, in Miami. The two-day conference and expo, which focuses exclusively on technology and applications of post-tensioning, features educational seminars, technical sessions, panel discussions, committee meetings, networking events, industry exhibits, and the PTI Legends Awards presentation and dinner.

Technical sessions of interest to engineers, architects, building officials, inspectors, contractors, specifiers, students, researchers, and others with an interest in post-tensioning include the following:

  • building design;
  • slab-on-ground foundations;
  • construction coordination;
  • post-tensioned bridges;
  • repair and rehabilitation; and
  • seismic/wind design.

In addition, an expert panel will focus on post-tensioned buildings. This question/answer format allows for interaction between the panel and audience. The panel consists of designers, contractors, and industry representatives.

Attendees will receive Continuing Education Units/Professional Development Hours for attending technical sessions and committee meetings, or by registering for one of the optional seminars available for an additional fee. Educational seminars offered are the PTI Level 1 Certification Workshop: Field Fundamentals; and Fundamentals of Post-Tensioning: Design, Analysis & Construction, a joint presentation of PTI and the Portland Cement Association.

Another feature of the 2007 PTI Conference is the 2007 Legends of Post-Tensioning Awards recognizing excellence in the field of post-tensioning. Awards will be presented following a special reception and dinner, open to all registered attendees.
