Obtain building security certification

The Building Security Council (BSC) offers the Building Security Certified Professional (BSCP) credential, which it says demonstrates a comprehensive, multidisciplinary focus on building security that makes it unique in the field. Building security professionals who possess an Architect license, Landscape Architect license, Professional Engineer license, or the ASIS International Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credentials are eligible to pursue the BSCP credential.

The 2nd Building Security Certified Professional certification seminar, May 22-23, 2007, in Portland, Ore., will provide 13 professional development hours in key building security knowledge areas, including the following:

  • project process;
  • risk assessment;
  • site considerations;
  • building envelope;
  • interior space;
  • facility operations; and
  • BSC rating system.

Seminar participants may also apply for the BSCP examination and take the computer-based exam at a CASTLE Worldwide testing facility location of their choice after attending the seminar. A special seminar fee discount of as much as $50 is being offered for attendees registered by April 30, 2007.
