New venue announced for DesignColumbus 2017

Columbus, Ohio — The Columbus Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and USGBC Ohio — co-hosts of the annual education day and expo DesignColumbus — announce a new location for their 2017 show. DesignColumbus 2017 will be held Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Ohio Union, located at 1739 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio.

Opened in 2010, the 320,000-square-foot student center is a LEED Silver Certified Green Building and is designated as an official GreenSpot by the City of Columbus. The DesignColumbus 2017 exhibit Hall and classrooms will be located on the first floor of the building and the keynote lunch will be in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom. Parking for the event will be in the South Garage.

DesignColumbus 2017 also marks the first year that Ohio’s four previously separate USGBC Chapters (Central, Northeast, Northwest, and Southwest) are now a single statewide organization: USGBC Ohio. The consolidation brings increased access to education, networking and resources for members and sponsors.

With speakers and seminars that address state-of-the-art developments in the built environment, DesignColumbus offers educational sessions and a product expo. Participants are representatives of the entire project team, including architects, designers, engineers, owners, developers, government officials, municipal planners, facility managers, contractors, construction managers, construction specifiers, manufacturers, product representatives and others.

The Construction Specifications Institute Columbus Chapter and USGBC Ohio invite companies to sponsor and exhibit at DesignColumbus. The physical trade show area allows space for informational displays and product demonstrations. A variety of sponsorship levels are provided to trade show exhibitors and corporate sponsors, ranging from a tabletop booth to full event comprehensive sponsorship.

Additionally, DesignColumbus is currently requesting proposals for project team presentations, single presenters, seminars and panel discussions that address the educational needs of community stakeholders. Presentations should focus on innovative sustainable design. Preferred projects can be built projects or conceptual designs, and can be in any phase of design/construction or recent completion. Presentations can be submitted at https://designcolumbus.org.

DesignColumbus attendees can earn AIA and GBCI continuing education units (CEUs) for each education session. These CEU opportunities are of tremendous value to architects, engineers and LEED Professionals interested in maintaining their credentials in an ever more competitive marketplace.

Attendees can register and find additional information at https://designcolumbus.org or contact Jim McDonald, CSI Columbus Chapter, at organizer@designcolumbus.org.
