MassDOT Annual Transportation Innovation Conference April 9-10

Worcester, Mass. — MassDOT announced that its 8th Annual Transportation Innovation Conference will include presentations and exhibits on a wide-range of topics, including connected and autonomous vehicles, environmental aspects of transportation, mobility options, construction materials, pavements, safety, technology, asset management, wayfinding and the Baker-Polito Administration’s Complete Streets Funding Program.

The conference will be held on April 9-10 at the DCU Center in Worcester, and is designed to showcase the latest technologies and equipment and to gather together transportation officials, advocates, members of the private sector and municipal officials to discuss trends in the industry, programs and initiatives.

The largest transportation innovation conference in Massachusetts, this two-day event will have opportunities to meet with experts, network with colleagues, and view interactive demonstrations and engaging displays.

“This annual event plays an important role in bringing together members of MassDOT, advocates and municipal officials to talk about trends in the transportation sector, new technologies and how we can increase partnerships,” said MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack. “This conference has grown from its beginning with a very small and internal audience to a wide-array of transportation professionals. It is valuable to have a gathering like this where we all come together not only to showcase our work, but to also understand the accomplishments and needs of those impacted by transportation in other ways.”

This year’s conference will offer more than 40 breakout sessions and is open to all transportation professionals including MassDOT, municipal personnel, consultants, contractors, non-profits, planning agencies, transit agencies, researchers, human service agencies, advocates, planners, private sector practitioners, vendors, and manufacturers. Speakers will include Secretary Pollack, Massachusetts Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver, and Utah’s Department of Transportation Executive Director, Carlos Braceras.

“This conference allows professionals to share in each other’s innovative work and accomplishments, from private sector to public sector and non-profits – we all have varying transportation needs and this opportunity to network and share in ideas is invaluable,” said Massachusetts Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver. “This conference has shown significant growth each year, and I am looking forward to the sharing of innovative transportation-related work across the Commonwealth.”

The Transportation Innovation Conference began in 2012 and supported a network of in-house MassDOT transportation professionals. In 2015, the conference opened up to include all transportation professionals including state, federal, private, and non-profit workers. The 2015 conference consisted of 450 participants and 40 vendors. In 2018, the conference included over 1,000 participants and 90 vendors. This year’s conference is expected to see continued growth.
