CHICAGO — KPFF Consulting Engineers — a civil and structural engineering firm with headquarters in Seattle — recently opened its 20th office. The new office in Chicago hosts three well-known engineer-consultants knowledgeable in design, construction, and repair of bridges; highway and airport pavements; underground and elevated transit structures; and large-diameter pressure pipelines. Their expertise also includes materials durability and performance in diverse environments; non-destructive testing; and construction quality improvement.

The staff includes Adrian Ciolko, P.E.; Scott Wyatt, S.E., P.E.; and Paul Okamoto, P.E. Ciolko has 35 years of professional engineering experience as a structural evaluation and construction technology consultant, and is well-recognized for contributions to cable-stayed bridge design, construction, and rehabilitation focused on cable systems. Wyatt’s work has encompassed design, inspection, condition evaluation, and rehabilitation for virtually every bridge type. He is an
agency-certified bridge inspector and inspection team leader, including fracture critical structures. Okamoto has focused most of his 28 years of consulting experience in the areas of airport and highway concrete pavement design and construction.

The Chicago KPFF team is working on transportation infrastructure projects throughout the United States, including consulting for pavement construction at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, a Pennsylvania DOT I-70 pavement rehabilitation study, and the condition assessment of the Interstate 10 Causeway in Metairie, La. The group is also providing consulting services for the fabrication and installation of stay cables on the Hale Boggs Bridge cable replacement project in Louisiana.

Ciolko chairs the Advisory Panel to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Board of Directors. The panel evaluated Dulles International Airport transit station alternatives for the 23- mile long transit extension from Falls Church to Ashburn, Va.; known as the Dulles Corridor Metrorail.
