Kleinfelder celebrates 50 years in business with charity commitment

SAN DIEGO — Kleinfelder, a global science, architecture and engineering consulting firm with more than 60 offices worldwide, began celebrating its 50th year in business April 1, 2011. As part of the year-long celebration, Kleinfelder made a commitment of $50,000 and more than 3,500 volunteer hours to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

“Our growth from a small family-owned business half a century ago to the nearly 2,000-employee-owner, global firm we are today can be attributed to the hard work and innovation of our employees, both in the field and in their communities,” said Bill Siegel, CEO of Kleinfelder. “Our employees take pride in helping their communities through participation in Kleinfelder’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program, which will be a big focus during our 50th year.”

Kleinfelder spent almost a year assembling internal teams of leaders to develop, execute, and manage their support program for RMHC. Since 1974, RMHC has been providing housing and other resources to families in need through a network of local chapters spanning 52 countries. Kleinfelder’s $50,000 commitment to RMHC will be made possible through support and participation from the firm’s local offices. Over the course of the year, Kleinfelder will prepare and serve 50 meals for local RMHC chapters. Doing so will require eight to 12 Kleinfelder volunteers for each meal and will represent a total of more than 3,500 volunteer hours.

Each Kleinfelder office will also set additional goals appropriate to their local RMHC chapter, which may include planting flowers, hosting fundraisers and parties, and supplying current newspapers and magazines.
