JQ Engineering launches multi-market Day of Service initiative

Dallas — Texas engineering firm JQ rolled out to its offices throughout the state a Day of Service initiative.  JQ developed the Day of Service initiative to create opportunities for employees to help local non-profits while bringing the firm’s teams together within their respective communities.

According to JQ’s CEO Stephen H. Lucy, P.E., “Since our founding, giving back to the communities where we work and live has been part of JQ’s culture.  Through our Day of Service program, our staff can increase their involvement by partnering with community based non-profits during normal business hours.  Our success and continued growth have been supported by our local communities, and it was important to our staff and firm leadership to develop a program through which we could reciprocate that support,” says Lucy.

JQ employees may sign up for a Day of Service each quarter and are able to identify the community organization that is important to them. The offices with a larger number of employees have more than one option, whereas regional offices typically choose one organization.

JQ’s community service committee selected the following non-profit organizations by office to donate their hours of service during 2017, including:

  • JQ /Dallas office — Trinity River Audubon Center, Dallas Life and North Texas Food Bank
  • JQ /Fort Worth office — Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Humane Society of North Texas
  • JQ/Austin office — Habitat for Humanity and Austin Animal Shelter
  • JQ/Lubbock office — High Point Village
  • JQ/Houston office — Casa de Esperanza

JQ’s actual Day of Service varies by each organization’s needs and occurs during February, May, August and November of each year. More than 200 hours have been donated year to date.
