JAX Engineering verified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business

Fort Worth, Texas — JAX Engineering, a civil engineering and construction management services firm, received verification from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). The firm is owned and operated by Jack A. Otteson, P.E., a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and Service-Disabled Veteran.

Otteson’s 29-year career includes 7+ years’ active service in the U.S. Army as an engineer officer and 22+ years with professional consulting firms as an engineer, project manager, department head and owner while still serving in the Army Reserve.

In 2017, Otteson founded JAX Engineering with a vision: to combine his commitment to country with his integrity and dedication as a professional engineer. The firm’s services include planning, design, construction management, and emergency/disaster operations planning and recovery for federal, municipal and private clients on projects such as: water/wastewater utilities, roadways, railroads, maintenance facilities, fueling facilities, general buildings and site development projects.

“Serving on active duty and in the Army Reserve throughout my professional engineering career has given me unique opportunities to apply leadership and engineering principles throughout the world,” said Otteson. “I founded JAX Engineering to serve clients with the same principles that served me well throughout my military and engineering career: responsibility, dependability and integrity.”

In 1990, Otteson deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq where he served in support of Operation Desert Storm. In 2003, he was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as Chief, Base Camp Coordination Authority. During his time, he served as Design Engineer for 420th Engineer Brigade and was responsible for base camp planning, design, and procurement of funding for base camps across the Afghan theatre. Currently, he serves in the Army Reserve as Operations Officer for the 100th Training Division (Leader Development) at Fort Knox, KY.

Otteson has been awarded three bronze stars and four meritorious service medals among other awards and decorations.
