International LID Symposium call for papers opens

ST. PAUL, MINN. — The 2013 International Low Impact Development (LID) Symposium call for papers is now open. The deadline to submit an abstract is Dec. 19, 2012. The symposium will take place in St. Paul, Minn., Aug. 18-21, 2013 and is expected to bring together more than 1,000 professionals to share their research, implementation, policy, financing and education strategies to build and restore cities while protecting our environment.

Practitioners and prospective authors are encouraged to submit a 300-1,000-word abstract to in the topical areas of:
• Current and Unfolding Research
• Design and Construction
• Education and Nonstructural BMPs
• Financing and Cost Benefits
• LID Applications and Practices
• Maintenance and Operations
• Monitoring and Measurements
• Planning, Design and Engineering
• Policies, Ordinances and Regulatory Compliance
• Proprietary Technologies
• Retrofitting and Redevelopment

The 2013 International LID Symposium seeks to advance the knowledge and understanding of sustainable LID principles and practices. In 2013, the Symposium is being hosted by the University of Minnesota in partnership with: ASCE EWRI, California Water Boards, Credit Valley Conservation, Center for Watershed Protection, Chesapeake Stormwater Network, Low Impact Development Center, North Carolina State University, Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO), Seattle Public Utilities, University of New Hampshire Stormwater Center, University of Maryland College Park, Villanova University, Water Environment Federation, Water Environment Research Foundation.
