HNTB Corporation leases new office space in Newark, N.J.

Newark, N.J. — Continued growth of HNTB Corporation’s operations in northern New Jersey is driving the firm’s commitment to lease a significant amount of new office space that will meet immediate needs and anticipated future growth.

HNTB, a national infrastructure firm celebrating its centennial of service to clients, plans to lease more than 11,000 square feet of space at Two Gateway Center in Newark, N.J. The firm also has taken an option for approximately 13,000 square feet of additional space to accommodate further expected expansion.

The new office space agreement involves a three-year, $997,500 Grow NJ award that will facilitate the relocation of some of HNTB’s current New York City-based operations to Newark, as well as accommodate additional planned growth. The move will result in 35 new full-time jobs at the Newark location and carry an estimated net benefit to New Jersey of $10.3 million over 20 years.

“We are very appreciative of the financial support we’re receiving from the State of New Jersey,” said Mike Sweeney, P.E., HNTB’s chairman of professional services, senior vice president and New York district leader. “Our commitment to both Newark and New Jersey is rooted in our decades-strong history with the state’s transportation agencies helping them shape New Jersey’s infrastructure.”

In New Jersey, HNTB has worked on some of the state’s most high-profile transportation programs, including serving as the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s general consulting engineer, New Jersey Transit Sandy recovery program manager, and New Jersey Transit’s Mid-Line Loop designer.
