HDR powers office with landfill gas

OMAHA, NEB.—HDR signed an agreement with the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) to purchase 5.2 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy—enough to power the company’s headquarters campus for a full year. The energy will be produced at OPPD’s Elk City landfill gas generation facility in Douglas County, Neb.

"OPPD is both our power provider and our valued client," said Richard R Bell, HDR chairman and CEO. "Purchasing this renewable energy from a landfill gas system that we helped implement is very rewarding."

HDR Director of Sustainability Michaella Wittmann said that the ability to help clients meet their sustainability goals requires that HDR transform its own operations. "It is important that HDR walks the talk and reduces our own environmental footprint. We are striving to show our clients, communities, and employee-owners the value of doing so."
