Half Dome hike unites employees

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—In June, a group of employees at engineering, planning, and surveying firm Cannon Associates—called Loose Cannons—completed a 17-mile, roundtrip hike up Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. The route included the appropriately named Mist Trail where the spray from waterfalls soak hikers, a series of steep switchbacks, and cables running the last quarter of a mile to the top of the Dome. In the past, the Loose Cannons, who train and participate in annual team-building events, participated in the Mojave Death Race.

"Hiking Half-Dome was an amazing experience," said Liz Jaeger, marketing director at Cannon Associates. "Finishing the cables to the top and seeing the whole Loose Cannons group was incredible. This event was a great way to get to know colleagues, as well as their friends and family, outside of the office environment. The challenge really brought our group together. Associates from both our San Luis Obispo office and Bakersfield office made the trek."
