Firms on the move – May 2009

Golder Associates Inc., acquired the assets of Engineering and Hydrosystems, Inc. (E&H), a Denver-based consultancy specializing in hydrology and hydraulics, sediment, river engineering and design, and reservoir and water supply management. Golder says that E&H’s six engineers and scientists augment its core technical capabilities in water infrastructure design, safety assurance, management, and maintenance.

I&S Group, Inc., added a new office in Madison, Wis., that the company says will allow it to better serve clients while promoting the firm’s growth. David Glusick, P.E., senior civil engineer and principal, is managing the new office.

TBE Group and WRG Design rebranded to Cardno TBE and Cardno WRG, respectively. Both firms are part of the Cardno group of companies, which has more than 3,000 staff worldwide and projects in more than 60 countries. Cardno merged with Clearwater, Fla.-based TBE Group in September 2008; Portland, Ore.-based WRG Design in June 2007; and with Washington, D.C.-based Emerging Markets Group in May 2007. All three companies recently incorporated the Cardno brand.

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., moved to new, expanded office space in Grand Rapids, Mich., that it says will provide greater accessibility to the West Michigan community. The Grand Rapids office provides geotechnical engineering, solid waste, environmental compliance and permitting, environmental remediation, occupational health and safety, air quality, and property development services.

SWCA Environmental Consultants, a firm that specializes in environmental planning, natural and cultural resource management, regulatory compliance, and sustainability services, acquired Environmental Performance Group, creating the SWCA Environmental Performance Group, a team of sustainability experts, environmental engineers, scientists, planners, and regulatory specialists. The group’s focus is to help organizations develop environmentally responsible business practices that reduce impacts, improve financial performance, and add brand value.

AECOM Technology Corporation acquired Savant, which has approximately 600 employees and provides project, cost, and construction-management consultancy services to private and public clients in 13 countries throughout Europe. The acquisition expands AECOM’s global presence, particularly in Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Maser Consulting P.A., acquired Walker, Previti Holmes & Associates and opened its ninth regional office in Marmora, N.J. Andrew A. Previti, P.E., who joined Maser as principal, will manage the new location, offering multi-discipline resources for all engineering, environmental, planning, surveying, and consulting needs.

Nancy O. Metzger, P.E., and Daniel S. Willard, P.E., announced the 30th anniversary of Tampa, Fla.-based civil/environmental engineering firm Metzger & Willard, Inc. The firm provides services to Central and South Florida clients with an emphasis on water, wastewater, and reclaimed water design and construction-related services including surveying.
