Construction Science & Engineering joins REI Engineers

Raleigh, N.C. — REI Engineers, Inc. (REI), a leading building envelope consulting firm in the Southeast U.S., acquired Construction Science & Engineering, Inc. (CSE) of Westminster, S.C. This strategic partnership will join two firms that share common philosophies for providing building envelope engineering and consulting services, allowing REI to expand service offerings (to include forensic investigations, expert witness, litigation support, storm damage assessment,) without straying from core competencies.

“The integration of our firms will expand our geographic coverage and provide our clients additional service offerings from some of the brightest minds in our industry” says REI President Scott Hinesley. “CSE places great emphasis on exceptional service and ethical practices; this union allows us to combine strengths with a well-respected firm.”

CSE is a forensic engineering + architecture firm that investigates and provides remedial recommendations to insurance companies and law firms for building enclosures and structures, predominantly in the Southeast U.S. and Caribbean. The professional staff of CSE is comprised of licensed engineers and an architect that offer building-related consulting services that encompass roofing, building envelope, civil, structural, and deficient construction. Known for integrity, CSE’s investigations provide comprehensive insight to the nature and extent of the problem.

CSE will remain in operation under the same name in their Westminster office. Derek Hodgin, Clemson resident and founder/president of CSE, will continue to provide leadership for the high-quality services their clients have relied on for 15 years.

“It is a win-win situation for both companies” says Hodgin. “REI is a great company with a lot of resources that will help us grow into new market areas, and CSE is a niche forensic engineering/architecture firm that will expand the expertise and services offered under the REI brand.”
