Christopher Yee is Pioneering a New Model of Client Advocacy at OSS

Life Sciences Expert Joins Original Survey Solutions to Create New Client Services Division

Modesto, Calif. — In his formative years, Christopher Yee spent much of his time building things. Sometimes he used popsicle sticks and tree branches, and sometimes he used code. This hands-on approach and passion for creation eventually led him into civil engineering, then architecture, and now into a hybrid role at Original Survey Solutions (OSS) that bridges these worlds. It’s a journey that includes the launch of an entirely new dimension of service for the fast-growing surveying, engineering and consulting firm.

Yee joins OSS as the primary permitting manager and owner’s representative for a major client in the biopharmaceutical sector. In this new role, he combines his engineering precision, architectural insight and deep knowledge of regulatory processes to act as the client’s advocate. His focus is to strengthen the collaboration among company leadership, design teams, contractors and municipal agencies to streamline permitting and approvals, an area where delays can have major project and financial implications.

“It’s a perfect synthesis of everything I’ve done,” says Yee, who earned a civil engineering degree from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. “I get to use my technical background while helping a client navigate complex city processes, ensuring that projects move forward efficiently and safely. It’s about delivering value and building trust.”

Before joining OSS, Yee held senior roles for architecture, engineering and real estate firms, where he led large-scale life sciences, technology and mixed-use developments throughout California. His portfolio spans from advanced research campuses to corporate headquarters, giving him a holistic understanding of how projects move from concept to construction to community impact. This experience, combined with his ability to communicate seamlessly with both technical teams and civic authorities, positions him not only to excel in this new liaison role but to shape it, broadening its impact and creating new value for OSS’s growing roster of life sciences clients.

Yee credits longtime colleague Steve Reynolds, who joined OSS earlier this year, with opening the door. “Steve and I go way back, and when he started talking about OSS—how jazzed he was about the people and the direction—I knew it had to be something special,” Yee says. “Now that I’m here, I can see exactly what he meant. The place just hums with energy.”

This momentum is reflected in OSS’s impressive and rapid expansion from its land surveying roots into a broader suite of client services that blend technical expertise with strategic guidance. “Chris represents where we’re headed,” says Will Paul, Founder and CEO of OSS. “He brings a rare combination of architecture and engineering skills and experience, but even more importantly, he has the entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit that we look for and appreciate at OSS. I see how dedicated he is to the client’s success, and I love how focused he is on making their mission his own.”
