Engineering firms merge as Ryan Biggs Clark Davis Engineering & Surveying, P.C.

Clifton Park, N.Y. Ryan-Biggs Associates, P.C., and Clark Engineering and Surveying, P.C., announced a new firm name after the two consulting engineering firms merged earlier this year. Ryan Biggs Clark Davis Engineering & Surveying, P.C., is now one of the largest women-owned engineering firms in Upstate New York, providing structural engineering; civil engineering; repair and restoration; construction support, inspection, and testing; and surveying services.

Team digitally documents historic battleship

Norcross, Ga. Leica Geosystems, together with Haag 3D Solutions, LLC, has embarked on a volunteer effort to digitally document the nations largest battleship, the Battleship New Jersey, anchored in Camden, N.J. The project is being undertaken in preparation for the upcoming educational seminar and 150th meeting of the West Jersey Chapter of the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors, which will be held September 10th on the battleship.

Smith National, a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm, is providing surveying, site planning, and grading and erosion control design to Gorman & Company, Inc. for the rehabilitation of homes in inner-city Milwaukee neighborhoods. R.A. Smith National has provided surveying services for more than 200 sites since 2006 and engineering services for more than 60 new home sites since 2011.

Michigans top engineering and surveying projects recognized at annual ACEC Excellence Awards Ceremony

On February 22, design professionals and guests gathered at the JW Marriott in Grand Rapids to recognize outstanding Michigan engineering and surveying projects from the past year, as well as engineering professionals who have significantly contributed to the profession.

RALEIGH, N.C. — On June 1, McKim & Creed, Inc., one of the largest engineering, surveying and planning firms in the U.S., celebrated 35 years of providing the “most responsive and dependable service all the time.” This mission statement has guided the company’s operations since Herbert P. McKim, Jr., P.E., PLS and Michael W. Creed, Ph.D., P.E., established McKim & Creed in 1978. The two young North Carolina State University graduates set up shop in downtown Wilmington, N.C., and “prayed for the phone to ring,” recalls Creed. “Praying for the phone to ring quickly gave way to getting out of the office and doing cold calls to potential clients. That is ultimately what changed the tide and got us moving in the right direction.” 

McKim & Creed acquires Texas surveying company

RALEIGH, N.C. — McKim & Creed Inc., an engineering, geomatics (surveying) and planning firm with offices throughout the South, acquired a 31-person AECOM survey operation based in Texas, formerly known as SURVCON. The Texas group will operate under the name SURVCON, a Division of McKim & Creed.
