ASCE urges donations, volunteers for Haiti relief

RESTON, VA. — The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) offered its technical expertise and pledged its support for relief efforts in Haiti, while urging its members and partners to join it in supporting the relief efforts organized the American Red Cross. ASCE also encourages its members to consider volunteering to help at the scene, especially structural engineers or those who speak French or Creole.

Details on how you can help:

  • Send $10 to the American Red Cross relief effort immediately by texting “Haiti” to 90999 from your cell phone. The donation will appear on your cell phone bill. Or donate via the American Red Cross website.
  • Help at the scene — enroll in the ASCE Disaster Assistance Volunteer Directory to match your skills with disaster relief efforts. Urgently needed are structural engineers or any engineer who speaks French or Creole; please specify such skills when enrolling.
